Steady as She Goes
House sales across Tasmania have increased over the past 3 months but still remain below sale numbers from 12 months ago.
The Real Estate Institute of Tasmania recently released its June quarter report which showed an 8.5% lift in house sales, over the quarter but a 6.1% decrease from the previous June. In 2018, 2504 investors purchased rental properties but there has only been 979 investment sales in the first half of 2019.
It would seem that property investors are taking their money elsewhere as the number of investors were down by 10.9 % through the first half of the year.
Certainly there is not currently that sense of urgency and flurry to purchase, however First Home Buyers seem to be out and about.
My prediction is steady as she goes with prices holding., the market is vital, there was a 7.5% lift over the quarter with a Hobart Median price of $520,000.
